So depending on if this is just based off the first book, we could have seven more 14 epsode seasons.
This season is based off at least the first three novels so far, afaik. Unknown if the fourth will be added this season or not. Leaves room for another season should they so choose.

maybe Title is "Suzumiya Haruhi",then "Melancholy(Yuutsu)" is a subtitleso when "Yuutsu" end,another come????
usually a series last either 13 or 24.i'm willing to guess 24 episodes.it'd be kinda sad for it to end in 14 episodes.
It's 14. Episode 9 (which is 14 in "Haruhi Time") was a definate closing episode, so you people hoping for 24 eps or more will have to pray for a second season.
Episode 14 was the final episode, but the first episode was either numbered zero or not at all. There are five unaired "gaps" in the Haruhi numbering system (5,6,11,12,13) and ten episodes have aired so far, thus it seems more logical that FIFTEEN episodes will air in total.
I hope and pray there is at least another season with 14 or more eps

The first episode (the movie) is most likely episode 13 in order, as it occurs before the events of the 14th episode. The series will end when they air the animated version of book 1, chapter 7, because that's obviously the most dramatic place to end the season. ;-]

there is a wiki u know, http://wiki.sos-dan.com/all info is thereseries is 14 eps, they are working on kanon next, after that has not been statedthe series completes the first novel and has random stories pulled from like 2-5:E i just started talking about if they would continue on the forum.... they already did random stories from other novels, next series would have to either skip those and be absolutely random from all the novels, or like try to complete a novel too like the first series and..possibly redo episodes thats already been done...but if it was fully random, popularity would die off, since the anime was made to promote the novels neways, the anime would get canceled and there might be uncompleted story arcs left over. the random organization of the series doesnt lead well to sequels
