i'm rewriting the programs for these since the code i used was clunky (reused code i wrote for the ichigo mashimaro sitters). i'll post the new programs when i'm done. he's a liru-chan one (if you want to play with it) that uses the new code. The Liru one doesn't feel like Liru at all. You make the images or get them from the intarweb?

Other thing, the borders are extremely "sawed", can't you use a smooth border?

>The Liru one doesn't feel like Liru at all. You make the images or get them from the intarweb?

the image isn't mine (it's the one in this gif) and at that size, it's hard to get any detail to make it look "right". if you can find a better one at that size, i can try using that one instead of the one that's being used now.

>Other thing, the borders are extremely "sawed", can't you use a smooth border?

there isn't really a "best way" of getting a clean smooth border due to the way windows does it's transparency. adding a smooth border causing some of the trapnarency colors to show and ruins the image even more (the emiri-chan one has that problem, you'll notice some green at the edges).

I know what the problem is, now. The image you used is too opaque. Liru's boots hex color are #EEEDE9, but in the program, they are... well, darker (couldn't get it). So, in short the image in the program is too opaque.

>> No.6521
>waiting for yuki ...
>Thx. Hope it's not too much work.

i'm redoing the yuki-chan gaphhic to make her reading a book and fix her long legs (lol). so it'll take a bit longer. in fact someone on 4chan
(when it was up) wanted yuki-chan reading a book, flipping pages and would stop and look up when you mouseover her.

>I know what the problem is, now. The image you used is too opaque

yeah, that image is a lot better. the one i uses was dithered to reduce the number of colors so that's why the colors were "off". i'll use the one you indicated and see how it comes out. i was hopingyou'd find a pic where's she's already in a sitting position but i can alter this one to the sitting position (like i did with the first one).

Thanks for the compliment! It's helps me keep up with programming on windows so I son't mind trying out new things. Plus many of the suggestions are things that I could use in other applications.

The feature to "stick to a specific app" seems to be coming along, just need to think of what to do when the app closes (right now the character ends up sitting in midair...lol).

Regarding the changing pose into reading book, is it possible to include several different poses and possible outfit combinations into one file? I recall a long time ago when I saw an Ayanami Rei program which would sit on windows, and you could swap her clothes from plug suit to school outfit, and wearing bandages or bandage-free.

For Yuki, you could probably have two options of wearing her brown cardigan or not, and wearing glasses or not. :D For poses... reading a book, typing on a laptop on her lap, waving a mouse around? :D

>Regarding the changing pose into reading book,...

i'm not good at creating images from scratch. got any that i could use of the other types (cardian, glasses, etc)? it's best if it's a front view. these are from this graphic.

>Sounds like many hours of work

it's time-consuming but i don't mind since i want the program too (lol). the attach works but it does some odd things when the attached program is closed or minimized (that's what i'm working on now) or when all windows are closed. the character ends up floating at the last window closed. clicking on the desktop makes the program respond but it's not detecting all windows closed.

you probably clicked the "attach" when the sitter was still at the bottom. clear the attach then let it sit on a window (click on an active window) then click the attach set. it should then "stick" to that window.

I'm not the developer of these, but I noticed two things in your screenshot that may help him. The first is that you seem to be using something other than the default Windows theme. The second, probably less-helpful thing is that it looks like a different language Windows.

Hmm... the app should hide if the window that it was attached was also minimized (to the SysTray, for example). The current behaviour is quite bothersome.

Other thing, for some reason it doesn't shows well in Luna Element theme: http://lunaelement.net/

A GUI tip, the Quit option should be the last one, as the 98% of the programs.

>First, thanks for your work on this. It looks like if you have an application that is "always on top," the legs are behind that application. Is there a way to be on top of the always on top?

One of the problems I'm working on.

> Hmm... the app should hide if the window that it was attached was also minimized (to the SysTray, for example). The current behaviour is quite bothersome.

The reason I didn't make it work that way was this is a sitter app so it needs to sit somewhere and I didn't want to put more icons in the system tray.

>Other thing, for some reason it doesn't shows well in Luna Element theme:

http://lunaelement.net/

There's no black outline around the pics so it may not look good on some themes. It's a matter of adding that to the pics.

>A GUI tip, the Quit option should be the last one, as the 98% of the programs.

That's only true of apps that have a menu bar. But I agree that it's in a strange place right now (mostly due to my adding options so will probably move later).

As for that black box; it's fixable using a "kludge" which I was trying to avoid, but to quickly fix it I guess I'll use it. tHis problem always pops up due to so many differences in the graphics drivers/os theme/selected colors/etc (so many variables).

nice work . .though I think I've personally drifted from window sitters to rainmeter or programs like it. There is always the problem of wondering if the exe that sittes come in is something bad or not. Not saying yours are . .it's just the whole running an exe for each sitter :/ While with rainmeter skinners just give ya the images and the skin file that can be looked at with a text editor. Although I can't make them jump from the top or bottom of a window that isn't a problem since I'm always maximazed anyhow -_-;; Still though, nice work. just an update. the routines as they are now aren't easily fixable (iow, it's gotten very messy) so i need to start from scratch again. so it'll be a bit longer until the final version. i know what i need to do so it shouldn't be too far off. the part that is causing the trouble is the sticky part and determining when to stay as the top window and when to move behind the current top window. when it wasn't a sticky, the sitter image was always the top window, but not when the sticky is turned on. so a bit more longer.

as for the etna (or any other) image. any image that's in a front view that's standing or sitting and that's not full of fine details would work.

>any chance you'll release the source?

sure as long as you don't use the code in a commerical app (iow, you don't sell it or the compiled app). it's embedded in this jpg file and is the last version i wrote (i haven't started the re-write yet). just save, rename to rar and then unrar it. it's written in borland delphi. if you don't have the program develpoment package, you can get it for free now. borland is giving away it's programming packages (c#, c++, delphi .net, delphi win32) under the name of turbo explorer (giving newcomers a change to learn a programming language). go to http://www.turboexplorer.com and download the turbo delphi package if you want to play with the code. read the pages good since you need to download other items to get the install to work correctly. i downloaded the package and installed it on another pc and it compiled the code with no problem. borland is allowing developers to sell any app they write with these packages (which is why i said please don't sell this app or any derviatives) so you could write and sell programs written with these compilers (which is very unsual for a company to allow this) so have fun (maybe? lol)...and merry christmas?

For those who don't want to install winrar to unembed the files from the JPGs, I found this:

http://www.ericphelps.com/uncheck/

If you change the file extension to .chk and then have it search for embedded files, it seems to pull things out nicely.

>> No.7394

To use these you must have download the program here: http://otakuworld.com/index.html?/mascot/program.html

Then apply the files found here. Enjoy all!

>> No.7399
>If you change the file extension to .chk and then have it search for embedded files, it seems to pull things out nicely.

this probably won't work since the embedded file is a RAR (which is why you will still need an unRAR program). So it will just extract the RAR file which will then need to be unRAR'd.

>To use these you must have download the program

these don't use that program since these are being written directly into code. i guess you could extract the bitmaps from these programs and use those as the images for the mascot program.

"this probably won't work since the embedded file is a RAR (which is why you will still need an unRAR program). So it will just extract the RAR file which will then need to be unRAR'd."
I wasn't sure it would work either, but I was able to open the ZIP it found inside with Windows' compressed folders handler. So I dunno, I mean you should know what to use since you made it, but I guess I was lucky it worked.

>> No.7420
>I wasn't sure it would work either, but I was able to open the ZIP

I think it worked with the other embedded ones that used the ZIP since those I didn't compress the files in the ZIP, but the RAR one is compressed so that probably won't extract the files. I couldn't use a ZIP file this time do to the unZIP being unable to find the correct embedded ZIP. the unZIP looks for the signature "PK" at the beginning of the file but some JPEG files have this signature throughout the file so gets confused and give that "corrupt file" message. so i ended up using RAR, oh well...
